I’ve been practicing my butt off and I’m really starting to like this whole cake decorating thing. Though its a lot of work, I find it to be a nice outlet. A couple days ago I decided to try and cover another practice cake with fondant (made my armpits tingle at the thought of it…my nerves). A good friend of mine suggested marshmallow fondant. Its very easy to make and tastes way better than that store bought crap fondant.
So I gave it a go…
and it worked out nicely. It was easy to make (I was covered in powdered sugar though), tasted good and went over my cake with no major mishaps. The only problem I had was getting it smooth enough since I didn’t have one of those fondant smoother thingy-dingys. But for my second try at this…I was one happy lady.
The other project I’ve been working on is gum paste flowers.
Yes…gum paste…no class involved…just me, a kit and this book to show me how to make pretty little flowers. To my surprise they are super easy to make and the more I practice the better my flowers get.
Here’s what I did with some flowers I made after I covered my cake with fondant…
Now on to Part 3…more cake…hopefully I don’t get sick of cake after this…maybe my next cake will go to a friend.
Any takers? Give me a holler!
