Bam Bam is sick
Great way to start the week…don’t you think? Not sure what “bug” is going around in my house…but it needs to bounce!
So to make us feel better, I’ve been making my grandmother’s oatmeal each morning for the past couple days.
I’ve been eating this oatmeal for years and its the best oatmeal ever. She still makes it for me from time to time when I see her. Its creamy, not seriously sweet, filling and easy to make.
recipe by Black Martha
1 2/3 cup milk (I use whole milk)
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 to 1 teaspoon cinnamon (depending on your taste)
pinch of salt
3/4 cup Quaker Oats Quick 1-minute or Quick cooking oats
Handful of raisins (optional)
Combine milk, sugar, cinnamon and salt in a medium sauce pan and bring to a gentle boil (when milk starts steaming a lot) over medium heat. Add the oats and reduce heat to med-low and stir continuously for 10 -15 minutes. Your oatmeal should become creamy and thicken (The more you let it cook the thicker it gets, so keep an eye on it).
Once its done, remove from heat, add raisins and serve immediately.
