One lazy morning I watched an episode of the Martha Stewart show. Its rare I get to watch what I want on T.V. these days…but my kids weren’t too bothered that I had changed the channel…plus they don’t pay the bill. On this episode of Martha she had some chef on there making some cornbread from scratch. She raved about how good it was and how it really tasted like authentic southern style cornbread muffins. It made me so hungry after watching them make it, that I went on to Martha’s website and printed out the recipe to try for myself.
So I went out later that day and got the ingredients I needed to make this cornbread. I ended up buying three different kinds of corn mill…not knowing which one would be the best. Came home, put the boys down for a nap and got to work on the cornbread.
The cornbread didn’t take long to make at all and I didn’t taste the batter before I put it in the oven…but felt confident that these were going to be delicious, since Martha raved about them.
So in the oven they went and 20 minutes later they were done. In the recipe it said to turn the corn muffins out of the pan right after you take them out of the oven…but them jokers didn’t budge. I remembered that I coated my muffin pan with an obscene amount of butter so they should have just fallen out.
I waited about five minutes and tried again…one muffin fell out and was all kinds of broken to bits. So I ended up taking a knife and scraping the rest of them out.
This was my end result….
What in the world happened here? I was so frustrated, even though they looked jacked I still needed to taste them… and they were soooo gross. I couldn’t believe how salty and non-cornbread tasting they were. I even drowned one in honey and it didn’t do the corn muffin any justice. I was so upset at this point. I felt like I needed to make a shout out to Wayne Brady to come choke Martha!
These are the kind of muffins you make for someone who you just want to play a really bad joke on.
